Collection: White Atractylodes

Don’t mistake this purple thistle for a weed! Growing wild in Korea, Japan, and China, the aromatic and tall White Atractylodes (also called Atractylodes macrocephala or Bai Zhu), actually has a PURPLE flower that looks a bit like a pom pom. The white root of this perennial herb is said to resemble a fleshy, clenched fist. Perhaps that’s some insight into the power that this herb possesses! One of the most commonly used herbs in the Chinese material medica, it has historically been used to help support the immune and digestive systems.
